Time

We all are given a limited amount of time. Ultimately, we alone decide how to spend it. Once it’s gone there’s no way to get it back.

A colleague offered up this insight into time over a decade ago. It’s helped me drive more decisions than I’d care to admit – when to end a relationship, when to leave a job, how to spend a sunny Saturday. Being recently unemployed I have an over abundance of time. It’s easy to develop grandiose plans on how I’ll spend this new found freedom; some that have come to mind:
- work out every day
- landscape the (severely barren) yard
- clean the house
- organize our stuff/office/life
- write a business plan for a charity
- help out at my husband’s business

I’m already on Day 9 of my new life…and…er…I’ve started some of my plans but most go untouched.

It’s the middle of April. Tulips are bobbing in the yard. It’s snowing. My mother-in-law is dying. I’m unemployed.

Time.
