Marie
My mother-in-law passed away on April 19th. It was her half birthday. She was exactly 79 1/2 and never really did want to be 80. She had been in the hospital for a week; diagnosed with lung cancer on Monday and given 6-months to live. Passed away Saturday afternoon holding her son's hand. No struggle, no drama, just peace. As she breathed her last breath it started to snow.

The first I heard of Marie was from my husband when we were dating. He described her as a "fancy lady". Apparantly she always dressed "just so" and was never without bright lipstick. She loved dogs; so much that the family dog often walked around with lipstick on his forehead...and so did her husband.

I told my father-in-law that story during the week we were together planning the funeral. He smiled and wistully mentioned that new no-rub lipsticks had put an end to that Hauge tradition.
